Delmont's annual Kuchen Festival will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025. The German pastry 'kuchen' is also the official state dessert of South Dakota. Kuchen will be sold at the Legion Hall, starting at 8:30 a.m. until gone. The Onion House, the Pumphouse Museum and the jail will be open for tours. The Twin Rivers Old Iron Harvest Festival, 1/4-mile west of Delmont, takes place September 13-14, 2025.
During the Fall Volksmarch, visitors can hike to the outstretched arm of the Crazy Horse Carving — a rare opportunity only available during this special event. The FestiFall event is held annually on the first Saturday in October from 1-5 p.m. Come out to enjoy arts and crafts, kids’ games, hay rides and bluegrass music. In true fall fashion, you can compete in pumpkin decorating contest, pumpkin carving demonstrations and pumpkin catapulting.

Join in a fall tradition at the Beaver Creek Nature Area southeast of Brandon for the annual Homesteader Day Celebration on Sunday, September 7, 1-4 p.m. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the pioneer life from more than 100 years ago. The historical Samuelson cabin will be open for visitors to see and experience. There will also be pioneer agriculture demonstrations, a black smith, civil war soldiers, Dutch oven cooking, rope making, candle dipping, music and more. It is free for all ages.

The event runs 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. and also includes donuts, cider and games. Admission is $5 per child (ages 12 and under) and $2 per adult/teen. Proceeds benefit the Prairie Village Herman & Milwaukee Railroad. (Prairie Village season passes not accepted.)
